One Response to Ethnic Alliance Upholds Suspension of Two Members

The UNFC needs to stick to “Panglong Agreement & Promises” that our forefathers had envisioned to build in 1947, which has been denied to all ethnic nationalities – Bamar included – and minorities in form of a genuine Federal Union.

And don’t let the so-called Burma experts and false constitutional theoreticians spin your head, when they said: “The ethnic nationalities have no idea on what kind of federalism they want and that only mention a vague term of genuine federalism.”

The point is that the Federal Union demand today is based on three historical documents, as it has been all through out the struggle for ethnic rights of self-determination, equality and democracy. They are: 1. Panglong Agreement of 1947; 2. Union of Burma Constitution 1948; and 3. The Ethnic Nationalities Federal Amendment Proposal of 1961 (Taunggyi).

These are historical treaties and documents that with some innovation to be in tune with the present day have to be used to build the kind of federalism what our forefathers had envisaged. Don’t let anyone tell you that we, ethnic nationalities, have no idea on kind of Federal Union we want.
