SYP has been serving the Shan community for more than 10 years with the mission of persuading more youth to participate in social and democratic development through education, awareness-raising, and capacity building. SYP works in the areas of education for migrant workers, media, health, and community development.

From 26/Sep/2012 - 28/Sep/2012, SYP has organized a meeting discussing our past activities and planning for future movements due to changes that are happening in Burma. SYP has constructed clear stand points to continuously work for the Shan community as follows:

1. SYP maintains and disseminates traditional Shan literature and culture
2. SYP empowers youth and children knowledge and capacities to increase both inside and outside of Shan State
3. SYP stands on behalf of people in Shan State and publishes real events that are happening in Shan State through media
4. SYP has policies to work with all Shan organizations both inside and outside of Shan State
5. SYP is willing to work with all organizations who are bringing true peace to people of Shan State
6. SYP works against any violent and unjust practices towards citizens of Shan State
7. SYP belongs to people of Shan State and does not belong to any group
8. SYP does not have a policy to work against any organization that works for benefits of people in Shan State
9. SYP supports all groups that work against the drug issue
