Dr. Shashi Tharoor to release Dr. Nehginpao Kipgen’s book
Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Member of Parliament and former United Nations Under-Secretary-General, will formally release the book titled ‘Democratization of Myanmar’ at 4:00 pm (local time) at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on March 28, 2016. The book release will be followed by a panel discussion, and Q & A session.
Invited panelists include Preet Malik, former Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, Dr. Gunveena Chadha, Assistant Secretary General, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Dr. Sonu Trivedi, Assistant Professor, Delhi University, Dr. Udai Bhanu Singh, Senior Research Associate, Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), and Dr. Khriezo Yhome, Research Fellow, Observer Research Foundation (ORF).
Dr. Kipgen, author of the book, is Assistant Professor and Executive Director of Centre for Southeast Asian Studies, Jindal School of International Affairs, O.P. Jindal Global University. Dr. Kipgen has published three books, 15 peer-reviewed journal articles, and over 120 articles in various leading international newspapers and magazines in over 30 countries across five continents – Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, North America.
While extending invitation to friends and researchers, Dr. Kipgen said, “With a civilian government assuming power on April 1 for the first time after more than five decades of military rule in Myanmar, the event becomes even more significant.”
According to the publisher (Routledge/Taylor & Francis), the book “studies the process of democratic transition in Myanmar.
