According to the latest news from Chiang Mai's AIR BAGAN Office at downtown Chang Khlan Road, tourists are not allowed to fly to Sittway in Rakhain State and Putao in Kachin State. In both areas political problems abound.

Other areas restricted are both the gem mining districts of Mogok in Mandalay Region and Hpakant in Kachin State.

All other areas in Myanmar can easily be visited by booking a tour through a registered travel agency in Myanmar or with a special permit issued by the Ministry of Hotels & Tourism in Nay Pyi Taw.
